The Loblolly Bay Pine  (NATIVE )  Loblolly Bay Gordonia lasianthus: Can grow into a medium sized canopy tree, This Florida Native is often mistaken for Sweetbay Magnolia. They both have similar features such as leaf shape and size as well as both of them having large white and fragrant flowers. Planting near lakes, ponds or streams is ideal for this tree due to its need for high soil moisture and its sensitivity to dryness.Evergreen tree that reaches 35-60 feet tall with e columnar or pyramidal spread 10-15 feet wide. Leaves are 2-7 inches long and are glossy dark green on top and light grey on the bottom. Has moderate drought tolerance and no salt tolerance. Prefers partial shade. Shallow root system. Slow Growing.

Uses: planted in urban areas where there is restricted, narrow, overhead space. Low maintenance- however does need to be watered during droughts.
