SOUTHERN CALTALPA TREE Catalpabignonioides The southern catalpa has 12-inch (30-cm) long seed pods. The southern catalpa’s leaves are between 4” and 8”. A native plant, is known for its fishing worms! Get yours today!  Also called “Fish Bait Tree” because it attracts the Catalpa Sphinx Moth. The caterpillars make great fish bait! Bell shaped orchid-like white flowers with purple and yellow inner spotting that are a real show stopper in late Spring! The fruit is a long bean-shaped pod that is up to 20″ long. Broad green leaves up to 12″ long with yellow Fall color.
